How To Get Rid Of Dry Skin Naturally In Winter

dry skin during winter

Winter is upon us and oh how I am not anticipating the chappy lips,  dry skin and scalp that comes with it! We all know how frustrating this can be. The constant itching and dry, dead skin falling off when you itch, uhk!

Most times we try to combat the dryness with an easy fix by running to the supermarket to grab some commercialized lotion. Sad thing is, most often the chemicals that are inside these products often tends to dry out the skin even more, leaving you more frustrated and your skin becomes scaly.

Sometimes depending on how dry your skin is, you may also turn to a dermatologist/doctor for help and she/he would prescribe a cream or gel to fix this matter. Yes those can work too, but what happens when you run out  and have to visit the doctor again to just get a prescription for a cream etc. It all just seems so daunting and a little costly.

Well, I am here to help you solve dry skin problems in a healthy and possibly cheaper way.

Using natural things for the body is never a wrong choice and you may be surprised how they work more effectively than the store bought cancerous chemicals. Here are my tips..

Raw Shea Butter
It’s almost as if I could write only shea butter as the only recommendation because this stuff is GOOD! It is best to purchase unrefined raw shea butter thats unscented as you know that is more organic. Shea Butter is a good by if you ask me as it's possible to use as it is and can also be used in different ways including in your hair.

Organic Glycerin
You then want to add some Glycerin to the Shea Butter to kick up a well hydrating mix. There are organic glycerin on the market like Sky Organics Vegetable Glycerine and I’m pretty sure you can find others of your interest by just browsing the web or visiting local organic stores. Note: You can use a mixer to combine all the ingredients with the Shea Butter.

Olive Oil
Now you want to grab some organic olive oil or another oil of your choice like almond oil for example. The purpose of the oil is to act as a sealant, which means it keeps all the good moisture from the shea butter and glycerine into the skin and not just on the surface of the skin. Having an oil base is essential.

Essential Oil
We make it a bit more fun with using an essential oil. Oils like lavender oil, lemongrass oil, rose oil, peppermint oil etc. The essential oil is to add a little natural scent/fragrance to the whole mix and to give a relaxing feeling. This is totally optional.

Rose Water
Another option is rose water which is scented water made from rose petals, if you want to option out of an essential oil.

Waahla! You have the perfect natural body cream to get rid of dry skin naturally during winter. Healthy and long lasting all at once. But among all this, remember to stay hydrated also. Drink lots of water during the day. If you're not hydrated on the inside the odds are thin that your skin would show any improvement.

Give it a try and let me know in the comments how it went for you or if you have ever tried a similar combination and how it worked out.
